Hello, I'm Natalie and welcome to Pemberley Bakes. We create extraordinary buttercream cakes, cupcakes and celebration cakes for all occasions. A party without cake is just a meeting, right? and you can get some delightful ones from the supermarket but if you are looking for something unique, you've come to the right place! Each cake, bake and sweet treat is crafted with love and care using the finest ingredients. No preservatives. No long shelf life. No two cakes or bakes are ever the same.
How did you start baking?
I started Pemberley Bakes after making cakes for family and friends and being gently encouraged to embark in my passion. I've baked for as long as I can remember. With my Nan making coconut macaroons, my Auntie Julie making a Victoria sponge or with my Mum making her famous biscuit cake. I love making people happy with my cake creations and have found a way to create something extraordinary out of something ordinary.
Who's there with you in the kitchen?
I lovingly do all the designing, sketching, baking and decorating myself but I couldn't do this completely on my own. My lovely supportive Husband, makes me copious cups of strong builders tea, heads out if I need more supplies and doesn't mind if a bit of icing sugar gets on his coffee machine. I wouldn't be where I am today, following my dream, if it wasn't for my family and friends.
Why Pemberley Bakes?
Well, ever since 1995 and a particular BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice aired I've been hooked! Colin Firth as Mr Darcy and Jennifer Ehle as Miss Elizabeth Bennet was a love story I fell in love with. I even studied English Literature at A-Level because of that Jane Austen novel. Pemberley is the fictional home and estate of Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy, set in the beautiful Peak District in Derbyshire. I wanted to combine two loves of mine and Pemberley Bakes was born.
"At Pemberley Bakes every cake, cupcake or macaron is baked fresh to order using the finest ingredients."
"As a child, I remember picking off the fondant layer of a Birthday cake or the marzipan from fruit cake at family weddings. They just don't tingle my tastebuds! I want every crumb of your cake to be enjoyed so my cakes are decorated with gorgeous buttercream, decadent ganache or yummy cream cheese icing."
"You know how interesting the purchase of a sponge cake is to me." - Jane Austen, a letter to Cassandra June 1808
